Bradstock XV will be held on the grounds of the Long Island Maritime Museum on Sunday, August 31st from 10 am to 10 pm. The museum is located on the shore of the Great South Bay on West Avenue in West Sayville. The Museum will be open. This year we celebrate our 15th Bradstock and we hope to make # XV the best yet!
It was back in 1994 when we had a party to celebrate good music and good friends. Someone came up with the name “Bradstock” and we laughed and said, “why not?” We all had a great time but no one thought we would be celebrating our 15th Bradstock in 2008!
We have come a long way!
We hope all the past volunteers will be back this year and, of course, everyone is encouraged to help out with Bradstock. Our Tuesday meetings will be starting up shortly and it takes a lot of work to make Bradstock such a great event. Please try to give us some of your time before, during, and after the event.
We need your help! It takes a lot of help from people like you to make Bradstock happen. If you can help with preparations for Bradstock, give us a call or attend our weekly Tuesday meetings at 7:00 pm at the Maritime Museum. We also need help with setting up the stage, helping the day of the event, and our yearly post-Bradstock clean up on the days after the event. Please give us a few hours of your time. We need Platinum Chiefs to help out backstage.
We will be donating to the Maritime Museum again. In addition to providing the site, the museum contributes to many environmental and historical groups concerned with the Great South Bay.
We will also be contributing to Island Harvest through our annual food drive. Island Harvest helps local food pantries in their mission to assist the less fortunate on our Island. Please bring some non-perishable food for our food drive.
We will have food vendors, but you’re welcome to bring your own. Please, no grills or open fires and no glass containers. Of course, we will be providing beer, water and soft drinks for all attending.
Children accompanied by a donating adult are always welcome at Bradstock, with no minimum donation required.
As always, Bradstock is a Pet-Free event. Please don’t bring your pet!
******Please car pool to help the environment and save money!******
The minimum donation for Bradstock XV is $30 before August 31st and $40 the day of the event. Make the leap to Platinum Chief. For $100 per person, Platinum Chiefs receive a special Platinum shirt, and full access at Bradstock XV. Please consider making the leap to Platinum status and see if your company or employer will contribute to this not for profit endeavor.
The Bradstock Journal has become an indispensable archive of everything that is Bradstock. Please submit any pictures, stories, articles or whatnot for inclusion in this year’s Journal. Most important, we need more advertising. Please spread the word about the Journal and try to generate more advertising!
The deadline for Journal advertisements is Aug. 13th. Call John at 631-790-7600 for more ad info.
